A WORD FROM OUR CLIENTS . . .
We had to make a trip out of town and have a young Rottweiler that still isn’t fully socialized and fearful of most people. Kelley was simply fantastic to work with, taking time to meet him and work with him briefly before agreeing to try to keep him for us over a long weekend. She sent us pictures and videos of his progress day-by-day and had him snuggling her by the third day! The premises are immaculate and very well maintained and simply the perfect place to leave our big boy to ease him into staying away from home and his family. Can’t say enough about the quality of this boarding facility and Kelley is an absolute joy to work with! Would give 10 stars if we could. |
If I could give Dog Paws ( Kelley ) ten stars I would. Our little Scarlet is so full of piss and vinegar. And as Momma Kelley would say shenanigans!!! It’s not hard to find the words to thank Kelley and Aunt Sheryl for all of the love and happiness that they shared with Scarlet while in their caring crib. It’s that when you meet them you realize that just leaving them in charge of your fur family is all of the thank you they need.
This last November my husband and I lost our 15 year old border collie Nala. She was the sweetest soul we had ever known. She was also our empty nest baby. Everything in our lives revolved around this beautiful soul. Our hearts are forever broken.
We have been married for 45 years and had planned a trip to Hawaii for our anniversary in January. When Nala passed we agreed. No dog until after our vacation. Well That Didn’t Happen. Welcome Miss Scarlet ( our 4-1/2 month old border collie!
Then panic set in. No one to watch our puppy! We had her just 6 weeks ourselves.
Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital whom has cared for all of our collie’s through the years ( since 1973) highly recommended Kelley ( Dog Paws Boarding Resort).
I have to say that I was practically sick at the thought of leaving Scarlet. Thinking what have we done? This poor little puppy! Will she feel abandoned? Will she cry? Will she be afraid? Will she be the same puppy when we return? We left with heavy hearts .
Our Scarlet didn’t even know that we were gone. Momma Kelley and Aunt Sheryl treated her like their own. Her schedule was consistent. Which Scarlet loves a schedule. She even got her teeth brushed and polished twice daily . They girl loves a good brushing. She learned to help with daily chores. And how to play with the big kids. (Moose and Shaq)
Kelley updated us with special notes, photos and videos about Scarlets daily and nightly adventures in the crib. Kelley is very honest about everything that happens in your dogs life at the crib. Even when they are up to shenanigans!!!
Kelley went above and beyond for our family. We feel like Kelley is now our family.
I have have dogs for my entire life. But with this puppy for some reason I felt like a brand new mom. Maybe it was just too soon after our loss. But I felt like I did when my first child was born. Scare to death leaving her. Kelley thought nothing of it. She completely understood.
When we arrived to pick up Scarlet after 17 days she was so excited to see us. But was like Mom ! Dad ! Come look what I did !! I did this and this and over here is my buddy Moose! I love him. Absolutely adorable! All four down!! The best experience we could have ask for our Miss Scarlet. Momma Kelley’s even given Scarlet a middle name. But I believe that was mostly used when Scarlet was caught eating her own poop .
Upon arrival home Scarlet knew when we were on our street. She didn’t hesitate coming inside the house. Walked through and inspected each room. Then took off into a big zoomy I was time to check out her yard. Kelley gave us a call later to she how Scarlet did her first night home. That really touched my heart. I could tell she was missing Scarlet.
We brought home the happiest healthy well mannered puppy. Needless to say Kelley and the entire Dog Paws Family is now considered our family. We are forever grateful.

My dog is truly my best friend and I am very selective about who I entrust her with when
I need to board her.
Kelley and her husband have created a wonderful boarding facility that is well designed
for dogs. It is clean, safe, efficient, attractive and impeccably maintained. They also live
on the premises to keep an eye on things. During the night, there are lights on so that the
dogs can see and soft music for them to listen to. The building is insulated so well that it
is very quiet inside and you cannot hear any outside noise. The building is climate
controlled with central heat and air conditioning.
Kelley is a natural with dogs and immediately makes them feel at home, showing her
love and affection for dogs. She treats each of them as an individual and spends one-on-
one time with them each day. She is adept at reading the dog's personality and possibly
matching them up with other boarders for supervised play sessions (if the dog owners
choose this option).
I worry about my dog when I am away, but Kelley sends multiple daily updates including
texts, pictures, and selfies. I got to where I would look forward to her texts and I would
quit worrying about my dog as I could see that she was in good hands and was having
fun. Some of her pictures showed my dog "smiling" while playing, clearly having an
enjoyable experience during her stay at Dog Paws.
Kelley eagerly responded to my long list of questions and offered excellent knowledge
and information. She has thorough and well thought out policies documented and
implemented that protect the boarders from harm.
The individual "rooms" for boarding the dogs in the crib are well designed and made of
materials that the dogs cannot gnaw or get splinters from, yet are easy to maintain and
keep clean. As an example, the floor is attractively epoxy coated, very easy to keep
clean, looks nice, and is very functional. The rooms are large enough for a dog cot, a dog
bed, favorite toys, food and water bowls, and room for the dog to stretch out and be
comfortable. Kelley even adds soft fleece blankets over the dog beds for the dogs to lay
on. Dogs can easily see out of their gates/doors (if they want to) or Kelley will drape a
towel over the door to give the dog more privacy.
I do NOT want a warehouse stacked with 100's of kennels, no one on site for hours and
hours, and constant round-the-clock barking, for my dog. Dog Paws Boarding Resort has
been designed to effectively resolve all these concerns.
I am very pleased with our first stay at Dog Paws. Kelley truly cares for the animals in
her care. She has great attention to detail about any feeding, sleeping, treats or exercise
requirements a dog may have. Having a service likes this relieves the stress of wondering
how your dog is doing while you are away. We look forward to our next stay at Dog
Paws. Well done, Kelley! Great job! 5 Stars Plus!

Big shout out to Dog Paws Boarding Resort LLC. on Edgewood Road. This is Lucky and Spooks second visit there. The first was just after the Derecho when we were juggling our move/closing on our home and without a place to live for a long weekend. Kelley graciously took them in until we were officially moved and I am certain she was struggling with her own storm challenges at the time. If you are needing to board your pets, Kelley has done a fantastic job of completely renovating an old corn crib with comfortable and suites. Thank you Dog Paws “Kelley”!!!

We just started sending our little puppy to PLAY with Kelley. Miss Ella loved all the praise, love and attention she got while we were at work. She came home tired and wanted to snuggle all night. I also feel like she learned some more manners even in one day with Kelley. Kelley is amazing with the animals and they all love her (she pays them in treats and attention so it’s kind of cheating - ha ha!)! Send your pup to PLAY or board while you are out of town. You won’t be disappointed!

Our tour of Dog Paws Boarding Resort was amazing, our dog Hank immediately felt at home & Kelley treats your pet like her own. The place is immaculate & beautifully remolded.

This is a great place to have your pets treated with TLC. Kelley did an awesome job of caring for our two puppies. She helped maintain our training goals, bathed them and trimmed their nails. The building the pets stay in is VERY clean. We were quite happy with our experience.

This is an amazing Resort for your 4-legged children!! After the Derecho, I reached out on Facebook to get help boarding our 125 lb. Mastiff, Bubba. Kelley responded immediately and took him in right away, without hesitation. She kept him safe all week and treated him as her own, throughout, updating us daily with photos and stories about his stay. She was amazing and Dog Paws will be Bubba's new home away from home from now on!! Thank you so much, Kelley!!

Kelley is my 'go-to' dog mom for advice! I call her with any questions about my fur babies! She has been working with dogs and cats since she was 16! She knows her stuff!
- Sara (Dog Mom of 2), April 2020
Kelley and her Great Dane Lucy were students in my class last month and Kelley did a great job coaching Lucy. Lucy can be very shy at times but Kelley gently and patiently guided her through all her training. Kelley is a caring and dedicated dog owner. Lucy is fortunate to have Kelley in her life!
- Gary (Trainer), February 2020
Kelley is amazing with dogs and very knowledgeable! I would trust her with my fur babies any day!
